Central Receiving

Inbound freight items may require special handling if Central Receiving personnel cannot safely transport freight because of its size, weight, lack of suitable equipment (i.e., crane/hoist or shipments that require a forklift); the need for additional delivery personnel; or the shipment is to be delivered to a location other than the department's authorized delivery point.

In these cases the ordering department will be notified by a job scheduler from Special Services. Special Services will make arrangements for delivery and provide a delivery window. The cost of such special arrangements will be the responsibility of the ordering department.

Note: For most furniture orders made through the Furniture Program the cost of delivery is included in the furniture price.
